I want to sincerely thank all the people who supported audiocandy this semester. I had never done a radio show and I was delighted to find so many people who willingly tuned in every Thursday morning, either for the entire show or for even five short minutes before class.

I loved audiocandy (if it wasn't obvious) and I was so glad I was able to share the experience with all of you! We were even able to reach our semester goal of 20 listeners at once, not to mention host an epic dance party in our attic.

I'll be starting a new radio show soon, so keep your eyes (and ears) open for more information on it.

Thanks again audiocandynation for making the radio show everything it could be and one of the best things I ever did at Syracuse University,

Lessons (on how to shoot a nude music video) Learned

We played Matt&Kim's newest single "Lessons Learned" on-air and shared the music video on this blog a couple of weeks ago.

For those who missed it, here it is:

I had my reservations about it, questioning if the duo actually stripped down and ran naked through Time Square. I mean, Kim wasn't even smiling! It couldn't have been the real Kim!

Pitchfork cleared the air and talked to Matt, Kim and the video's directors Taylor Cohen and Otto Arsenault to get to the (bare) bottom of this. (Yes, they were completely naked. Oh yeah, it was mid-February too.)

"TC: But we did a lot of sweet-talking with the cops there-- if I went to a cop mixer I could probably go home with half the force. While we were shooting we were just like, "We got permits!" and most of the cops backed off. After the take, one cop was genuinely concerned. He was like, "Did I mess up the shot?" The cops in Times Square are really just making sure there are no sketchy vans lining up."

We just played "Stick-on Stars" by Acrylics. There used to be this store in the mall when I was a kid called Glow that only sold glow-in-the-dark & blacklight products. It went out of business; shocking. haha Did you all see that story about Korean glow-in-the-dark Beagles? I guess they don't actually glow, unless you put them under blacklight. It's still crazy.

10:38 am: St. Vincent's new album hasn't dropped yet, but it has been leaked. Yof said she reminds him of Sufjan Stevens & Radiohead sometimes when she sings, like mellow & creepy. Yof also said that he thought that the new album could have been better; she had the same problem with her previous album. The album is split with four good tracks and four alright tracks. If only she could have all eight tracks be stellar! I think she could.

10:08 am: Yofred started the show this morning. His class was canceled, so he was able to make it on time! He even started a few minutes earlier. I came into the studio a few minutes before 10 and he already was playing some Deerhunter!

We were just talking about the Flaming Lips. They played a free show at RISD only for students, but Yof was able to sneak in for their encore. The Flaming Lips also played a free show last weekend in celebration of Earth Day on the Mall in D.C. Did anyone go? I'd love to hear how the show was!

Merge Records celebrated its tweintieth anniversary by releasing a compliation of covers, from bands mostly not on the record. There is a collaborative effort from St. Vincent and The National on their cover Sleep all Summer" by Crooked Fingers. Other notable bands covering songs include Bright Eyes, Apples in Stereo, The New Pornographers, The Mountain Goats, The Shins and Ted Leo.

St. Vincent

St. Vincent's new album "Actor" leaked last week and have evaded my music radar until now. I will be giving this leak a digital spin in a few minutes after it finishes downloading. St. Vincent is one of my favorite female vocalists, and she definitely has very good guitar techniques

Im about 4 songs in. This album is impressive. Im absolutely loving the production, its at the perfect balance between being labeled too harsh or clean. She's drawing a lot of contemporary influences like Joanna Newsom and Bjork's poppier stuff. Hey songswriting gives me vibes of Grizzly Bear and her mellow but desperate vocals sometimes remind me of Thom Yorke's. She sings so delicately but is backed by distorted guitars and over-amplified horns, making it chaotically refined.

Live-blogging from FUNK

1:52 am: Back at home from the show at Funk. Sat down with Adam after their set and chatted about their upcoming shows in Boston and NYC. Adam did not get to experience MayFest back in his day, but apparently a bar called Conrad's had "split" day where the interior of the bar would be covered in plastic and drinkers would be encouraged to buy beers, shake them up and spray their friends. The end result: leaving the bar around 1 pm, hammered, wringing your beer-soaked clothes out as you walked down M street passing the entry line that wrapped around the complex, according to Adam. Sounds moist and hazardous-- two adjectives we might be using to describe our MayFest this year if rains.

It was great meeting Rish and Matt, and finally putting a voice to a face in Jesse and Adam's cases. Get back to Boston safe and sound! And come back to Syracuse soon!

The Lights Out + audiocandy

1:01 am: Merit is playing. I've only seen their shows at SPARK hyped before, but I've never seen them live. I'm dead tired and contemplating leaving, but the lead singer is really good. Emo, pop-punk sound, but her voice makes it sound much better than the typical man-squeals of emo bands. I kind of think the style she sings in reminds me a bit of Tegan and Sarah, just saturated with pop & emo.

They're signed to Aux Records, the record label the day-long show was for.

12:47 am: Yo. The Lights Out were so good! I think I was most impressed by the vocals. All the members could hold their own and really harmonize, a rare treat. Adam, who we talked to last Thursday, had crazy stage presence and amazing guitar skills. I feel like their sound could appeal to all ages. I dig them and I think my parents would like it too.

I was pretty impressed by The Lights Out. But most of all I was surprised at how young they all looked. It seems like they not that much older than me and Paige. I think they have a lot of potential and if they refined their sound just a little bit they will have the opportunity to earn some national recognition. For a free show I am very impressed and encourage them to keep playing shows, especially local shows at Syracuse where they can receive support from other students.

I'm so boosted that this show is completely free. Great to see that the Funk boys still are about the community.

Seeing how this band has such energetic crowd, I wonder if there's a big emo scene in Syracuse. I know there used (maybe still is) a solid punk & metal scene. I think Westcott Community Center still holds some metal shows every so often.

11:49 pm: Hey it's Yofred. I was just at a art show on Clarendon but at Funk now listening to Honor Bright. Listening to them reminds me of high school and the emo shows that i used to go to.

11:41 pm: Opened with "Roads? Where we're going we don't need roads." They have quite the following. A lot of people singing along. Apparently they played at Vans Warped Tour last year and have played on TRL.

Kind of like a pop-punk, emo sound. We think it sounds like The Starting Line. Maybe a little Boys Night Out?

I haven't been to one of these types of shows in so long. It feels like high school.

11:30 pm: Yofred and I are here at Funk n Waffles for the Aux Records 5th year Anniversary party. Seems to be a lot of Syracuse folks here--young too. Honor Bright and Lights Out Dancing have some merch tables set up. Pretty good turn out though. We're guessing about 50 people.

The audiocandy party was a smashing success. Thanks for everyone who came out. I know it was a hard weekend for some to make it, with Passover and Easter, so here's a little photographic re-cap of the night.

I. "I'm here to hype this shit up."

Fantastic set by Mouth's Cradle (Kevin). Great sound. He would go great with a Camera Obscura set, and/or a bottle of blush wine. His set was so good, he played "Meniscus." TWICE.

Kevin would do an encore only if the crowd submerged him in a dance party.

II. The lovely Ms. Sarah Aument

It would only be fitting to have Sarah Aument, audiocandy's first musical guest, play live at the party. She brought a band with her this time, a much different sound than her acoustic set she performed for us a month or so ago on-air.

Keeping in the audiocandy spirit, audiocandy gave away prizes between sets to guests that could correctly answer trivia questions.

I was not upstairs for all of DJ Mike Perkins set but he pumped some serious house jams. Near the end of his house he started droppin some really cool mash-ups he had personally made. Apparently yofred was not upstairs either, because we do not have any photos of Mike djing. If anyone does and would like to share, comment a link to your photos!

While the dance party was continuing in the attic, I was on a mission to satisfy everyone's wishes for audiocandy tattoos.

One lucky guest won an original audiocandy t-shirt because of her enthusiasm for audiocandy and audiocandy tattoos (the blond on the left)!

Crystal Castles should stay out of trouble, but it does not really seem like an option given their track record.

Last night in Dallas, CC kicked VEGA from the ticket and eventually canceled their show at the Granada Theater due to an "ill equipped venue." Mind you, the spot has hosted Animal Collective, Ratatat as well as won awards for being the Best Live Music Venue two years in a row.

There's conflicting stories of exactly what happened, but gorillavsbear has nicely packaged all the statements from the involved parties on their blog.

Looks like CC were just being dicks.

Canadians Ethan Kath and Alice Glass have been making (crime)waves through out the indie scene since last year, but their rise has been anything but smooth. Copyright issues surfaced in 2008, attacking the legitimacy of the duo's sample and artwork usage.

CC printed Trevor Brown's black-eyed Madonna image on merchandise without permission, erupting into copyright chaos and the eventual relinquishment of the image's rights to the band.

CC also had a copyright dispute over the use of a entire song--"My Little Droid Needs a Hand" by Lo-bat--in "Insectica," without permission.

I really dig CC but this makes it hard for me to hype them.

Singer Jón Þór Birgisson (aka Jónsi) will be releasing a 9-track LP with his boyfriend Alex Somers as Riceboy Sleeps. The album "played solely on acoustic instruments in Iceland (and featuring long-time string collaborators Amiina, as well as the Kopavogsdaetur choir) and then endlessly toyed with on solar-powered laptops in a raw food commune in some far corner of Hawaii," according to a press release.

I frequent Pollstar.com to see if any decent bands are coming to Upstate New York. I am usually disappointed by the lack of acts visiting my local Syracuse area, but relatively close towns and campuses like Rochester, Ithaca and Albany book a pretty solid number of shows every semester.

Today I logged on to the site to see what concert activity was brewing around here (and also be teased by the quality shows scheduled for my hometown metro area of DC and Baltimore).

A new scrolling marquee grabbed my eye, showcasing the average ticket prices for various shows/artists.

Here's a few figures that might aide you in budgeting your monthly concert allowance or just surprise you:

Thanks to all those that called in and requested songs today. This was probably my favorite show so far because we had plenty visitors in studio (Catherine, SlangBang + friend, Zachary), trivia with a winner finally (thanks Brad Orban), and numerous song requests including one from self-proclaimed "biggest Audiocandy fan" (Josh Shaw). We will continue to make our show as interactive as possible and have our listeners help mold the show into more of a collaborative experience. He'll make you dance for the Dance

Only about three things consume my mind during the month of March: springtime, school ending and college basketball.

The recession has complicated my goal of solidifying a post-graduation plan by spring break.

Groundhog's day brought the undesirable news that there would be six more weeks of winter.

But, not all hope is lost. Syracuse Orange are doing work in the NCAA tournament. Big game Friday.

And seeing how audiocandy is a radio show and all, we were challenged to find a way to link music with March Madness. Pato Margetic is the man for the job.

Margetic, 23, is an up-in-coming guitarist scheduled to play at the Final Four in Detriot April 3, 4 and 5. And we have him visiting us in studio tomorrow!

Son to a professional Argentina soccer player, Margetic has been playing and performing music since he was 13, getting his start playing on the streets of Detriot at 16. Since then, he has lived in California, Michigan and Washington, D.C., all in efforts to make connections in the music industry and make albums.

His voice reminds me a little of Maroon 5's Adam Levine sometimes and other times Jason Mraz, but a little darker. If you like a pop-soul voice + guitar, you'll dig him.

He plans to tour this summer.

Audiocandy is going to sit down with Margetic, pick his brain a little and find out a little more about his life and music. He will also be playing a live acoustic set. You don't want to miss this!

Who you should know: Emily Haines

Before my Jenny Lewis infatuation, Emily Haines reigned supreme on my list of indie rock goddesses.

She still ranks pretty high in my book. And rightfully so.

Haines' band Metric has been around for over a decade, gracing airwaves with her recognizable, and sometimes imitated (see: Land of Talk), voice. It only makes sense that a Canadian with such talent would be part of the well-know musical collective that is Broken Social Scene.

I went through a stint freshman year where I played Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? (2003) on repeat, daily. If you have yet to listen to Metric, give this album a try; a similar repetitive reaction will occur for the following four weeks. Pay special attention to "Succexy," "Combat Baby" and "Wet Blanket."

Yofred introduced me to one of Haines' solo albums, which she releases under the name Emily Haines and the Soft Skeleton, and once again my craving for more of her voice surfaced. I did not listen to Knives Don't Have Your Back in quite the same obsessive way I did with her Metric work. The tracks ran at a slow tempo than anything I had heard from her before, but her voice was still there, even a little more haunting (i.e. "Our Hell"). In the end, I prefer Metric Haines.

New material off of Metric's soon-to-be released Fantasties album, due out next month, has been leaking off music blogs since the turn of the new year. And I am a bit disappointed.

I do not want to slam the new album just yet, seeing how I have yet to get it and give it a good long listen, but I have been upset by the things I have heard; Haines does not seem to ooze that slightly-bad-ass edge I thought set her apart, and a large role in why I love her so.

As Paige promised, we are posting our brackets for the NCAA tournament. We just came back from watching the game with everyone else at Chucks and still pretty hyped from the easy Syracuse win. I'm sure the next game will be more of a nail-biting game.

You guessed it: Syracuse will win the tournament. It's not that farfetched considering that the 2003 title was won when Syracuse was a third seed.

I have only been gone on spring break for a week, but it feels like I have been away for an eternity. I had a fantastic trip to Palm Beach, Florida for Habitat for Humanity, building houses all day in the warm sunshine and making close friendships with 19 other SU undergrads.

It's weird getting back into the groove, but here's a sick project (mashing-up youtube videos to create songs) to get you back into the swing of things that I found via my former web writing & innovation professor's facebook.

Grizzly Bear made a name for themselves as the indie paradigm for creative vocals; credit due not just to the lead singer Edward Droste but also to the harmonic contributions made by the other three members. The band's third full-length album Veckatimest (out 5/26/09, Warp Records) sounds like they will be continuing their reign as vocal authorities in the scene, but their influence might not stop there. The new album tackles a wide range of musical styles, pushing indie rock to new heights. I mean, what other band solicits the help of an orchestra for their album, and does it in a way that complements their existing style?

Interviews hinge not only on an artist's ability to answer any question that is thrown to him or her but also the reporter's question selection and background research.

Canada has one of the most entertaining and knowledgeable interviewers, known as Nardwuar the Human Serviette.

I'm not exactly sure how I came across his videos, but he has interviewed everyone from Snoop Dogg to No Age.

His interviews are so unique because he brings gifts to his interviews as well as clearly does a lot of in-depth research on each of his guests, spawning an instant bond between him or her and Nardwuar.

Unicorns have not been around for quite some time, but that does not mean they have been forgotten.

In some cases, we can still hear them.

I'm referencing the Canadian indie-pop trio The Unicorns, whom assembled in 2000 but only to break up five years later. But, do not discount the mystical creature. Someone, somewhere, probably has claimed that he or she has heard the gallop of the magical horned horse; I'd love to have whatever he or she was taking at the time.

Listeners do not have to dive deep into the indie scene before coming upon work touched by an ex-Unicorns. Former front man Nicholas Thorburn (twitter) stands as the most recognizable of the three just because his voice is so unique and has multiple projects that still produce to this day.

The other two Unicorns, Alden Penner and Jamie Thompson, have either taken to other ventures or kind of disappeared (ironic).

Penner took some time out to score the movie The Hamster Cage as well as start Clues, a band with Brendan Reed (ex-Arcade Fire) and Bethany Or (Shanghai Trida).

Clues:

Thompson (aka J'aime Tambeur) contributed to Islands, one of Thornburn's current bands, for a bit but has since left the group.

I love Islands. They released their debut album Return to the Sea one year after the Unicorns broke up (2006). Thompson's voice has a strong presence and some songs really ring of a Unicorns sound, but some songs embrace a more twee-pop influence ("Rough Gem," watch the video; it's so cute). Arm's Way, their second release, dropped early last year and contained an arrangement of less pop-y songs.

Jim Guthrie, who also used to be in Islands, recorded an album, Moody Motorcycle, in just a week with Thorburn and released it late in 2008 under the band name Human Highway, after a Neil Young 1978 song. I was first exposed to their magic with the "The Sound" remix on Stereogum's MySpliceIII. Guthrie is now working on solo stuff, and Thorburn is back with Islands, so I feel like Human Highway was probably a short-lived project that the two just worked on during a week-long vacation of sorts.

It seems like Thorburn is just someone you should know of. It's hard to say under what name he might release his upcoming music (he's gone by Nick "Neil" Diamonds and Nick T. in the past).

Never the less, you have always got one safe bet: just listen for his voice.

My friend Zach is always discovering French electro-pop/dance/techno music and shares them with me. So I've learned that there is so much more to French dance music than just Justice. Justice are great, but there is a very lively movement of artists with similar styles that are brewing in France's underground music scene, making me think that French people are actually kind of cool.

My patriotic arrogance is telling me that we should stop saying "French techno", and refer to the genre as "Freedom techno".

Devote your eyes and ears for the next three minutes to this song, because its pure audiocandy and better than 15,000 blowpops.

In middle school I struggled to name female musicians whom I liked. I blame it on the horrible pop-punk I listened to at the time. My introduction to Tegan&Sarah, Rilo Kiley years later gave me a real taste of what women can do with guitars, and how much better they rocked compared to the talentless emo crap I had settled with for so long.

There's something about a female's ability to really just belt out a song (i.e. Regina Spektor). Add some instrumental talent, undercut with heavy, yet relatable, lyrics, and you've got a force to be reckoned with.

Sarah Aument seems to have all those qualities, but sweetly disguised with a melodic voice and entrancing gaze.

Aument, a Syracuse University freshman, is going to be audiocandy's first musicial guest on this thursday's show (10am--1pm), playing a few of her songs and answering our (and your) questions. She signed with SU sophomores Dan Creahan and Sam Mason's record label O, Morning Records last semester and she played her first headlining show with Like Trains & Taxis and Erica Scarano at Funk n' Waffles earlier this month.

Swing by her MySpace page and take a listen to a few, or all, of her five posted tracks (my favorite is "Shall I compare thee"). Comment which ones you'd like for her to play on-air, or any questions you may have for her that you'd like for her to answer.

She'll be in the studio during the later portion of this week's show, but be sure to tune in early for a special contest with an Aument-related prize!

Beard me tender

We're about half through February and, although the groundhog did see his shadow, Spring is right around the corner.

I've had my fill of Syracuse's winter. I cannot wait for mornings on the quad with crossword puzzles and coffee or for sunbathing at Green Lakes. Plus, spring months are always more exciting because that's when more artists sign-on or announce their participation in summer festivals.

But, like with anything, you've got to take the good with the bad.

And so I regretfully prepare myself for time when I will have to bid farewell to one of the few things that gets me through these depressing, cold days: the swoon-worthy sight that is the bearded man.

Lumberjack to some, sexy folkster to many, the bearded man makes me weak at the knees. There are various styles to the beard--ranging from the meager 5 o'clock shadow scruff to the almost-feared ZZTop extreme (-->).

I feel I have seen more and more men sporting facial hair, some more ballsy than other (i.e. mustaches, see James McAvoy left). It is hard to dish the credit to any particular person or trend.

Is it an accompanied bonus to the wave of indie folk?

Do men just want to protect their skin from the harsh, dry elements?

Did some girl let the cat out of the bag that we'd like our men to look manly?

Whatever the reason, thank god for it. And thank god so many guys took the hint.

First of all, I would like to thank those listeners who called in and sent us requests this morning. It truly made our first radio broadcast that much more fun.

Okay so I was browing through some music. And here are some stuff that I found blogworthy.

School of Seven Bells.

I feel like this band has a lot of potential, and if they can artistically challange themselves just a little more, they would begin to receive a lot of positive attention. This song in the music video is the combination of pop and shoegaze which I dig, and includes some decent verses, but the chorus does not live up to the rest of the song. Still, expect bigger things from this group.

The Thermals.

The Thermals rock, hard. These guys have punk roots and are not afraid to show off their fast-paced and rebellious music influences. They're lo-fi, but also power-pop. Think Weezer's blue album if they were angry instead of emo. Theyre coming out with a new album soon and have released a new song. The song "Now We Can See" is decent. Maybe the sound is a little too polished for the genre they are comfortable with. Signing on to a bigger label, Kill Rock Stars, might explain this. Nonetheless, I still cant wait to hear their album when it is released.

Fleet Foxes

This is my favorite Fleet Foxes song, and it came off their Sun Giant EP that was released before their well received debut self-titled album. They made a stop-animation music video for it recently and it's really worth the watch.

UPDATE: I found out this is some weird cover band about mid-way through the song? That's what you get for just grabbing random videos off of youtube..

10:30am: We just played a track by Broken Spindles, which is a side-project of The Faint. Broken Spindles was interviewed by our friend Mike Murray for his sweet new music blog The Calcutta that he does with his friend. They've interview a lot of people already, including one of my favorites--Brendan Canning from Broken Social Scene. Hopefully we can get Mike's band To The Ruins in the studio sometime soon.

10:15am: We're playing "Knife" by Grizzly Bear and Yof actually had the opportunity to see them live when he went to the Radiohead show in Boston over the summer. Yof showed me this video of Girl Talk at Pitchfork Music Fest which actually had the lead singer of Grizzly Bear singing this exact song live during the remix.

Battle of the sessions

I was perusing La Blogotheque last night for new take-away-shows, where they feature artists and bands playing music in public settings (typically walking down a street, etc.), when I came across their in-a-van sessions.

The premise is similar to their take-away-shows in focusing on one band or another and having them play live in an interesting setting (this time it's in a van, go figure). Unfortunately, the intimate-show-on-wheel has already been done by Black Cab Sessions. (the van might be a good look though; the backseat of a black cab tends to be a little small)

A lot of the same musicians have performed sets for both projects. Here are a few battles comparing artists' sessions with BlackCabSessions and La Blogotheque (most from La Blogotheque's take-away-shows just because there are only about six in-van-sessions), and my opinion of which cut is better:

Lykke Li
This swedish indie-pop sweetheart danced onto the scene last year with her debut album Youth Novels. It was one of my favorite albums of 2008, full of perfect pop songs with catchy beats and lyrics.

I love her, but I found the direct eye contact with the camera can be creepy at times. You can also tell she is almost jumping out of her skin to dance, but she's forced to remain in sitting position. Her dancing is so charming! If only you could see it; it adds so much to her performances. But, she's so good, I can't help but like this performance, minus the point when the cameraman turns to the internal television that is tuned to a poker tournament(?).

I almost prefer Lykke Li's Black Cab Session on environment alone; the setting is kind of whack in this cut. Maybe outside some hotels or something? I am partial to this video because it's Dance Dance Dance, one of my favorite tracks, and performed with the help of a group of people (El Perro Del Mar at that!).

Fleet Foxes
There's been so much hype about Fleet Foxes, tracing back a couple of years. I finally took the time to snag their album and dedicate ample listening sessions to it, and the verdict is out: I dig it. Their harmonies and just overall relaxed and beautiful composition soothes the soul and eases daily stresses away.

This is a really nice video solely just because it's straight up one-on-one with Robin Pecknold. At the end they talk about how the driving can be bumpy sometimes and how it's hard to keep playing; I've always wondered about that, but never have seen anyone make a mistake (I haven't seen all the videos though).

La Blogotheque continues to blow BlackCabSessions out of the water from a cinematographic standpoint. The shots are creative in subtle ways, from the slight tilt of the camera to the depth-of-field focuses. BlackCabSessions' motto is "one song, one take," which I guess is to be their signature and maybe excuse for lack of creative filming. I'd love to be laying in a grass field of a park and have Fleet Foxes just saunter by and set up shop. The acoustics in the place they do "Blue Ridge Mountain" are just perfect. I can't get over their talent.

Bon Iver (/bawn-e-ver/ not /bon-iver/)
I've got unintended trend going through out this entry; here's another impressive relatively-new musician. Bon Iver released his debut album For Emma, Forever Ago in late 2007, but more like 2008 (aka another artist whom made a name for himself/herself/themselves in 2008 & will continue to deliver us beautiful music). He's incredible; I love his voice. His latest EP Blood Bank dropped late January and left me wishing it was more than just a 4-track EP.

1. Marry me. 2. I love that the majority of the video is shot centered on his head with a great view of the street racing away in the background, since the cab is moving. Every time I see videos of him performing this song he gets so into it. Fantastic.

This is one of the few LaBlogotheque projects that I don't really dig the setting. It would be insane to actually be in that small apartment in Paris for that private set, but it doesn't really translate on film; I kind of feel left out, a contrast to the almost exclusivity I encounter while watching other LaBlogotheque videos. That's just probably my jealously getting the best of me. Bon Iver playing Skinny Love by candlelight. Okay, yes, I'm extremely bitter I wasn't invited. Also, I can appreciate people getting into music, but I feel like that one guy in the corner might have been so into it he might have been almost challenging Justin Vernon in singing (just look at the brunette's expression who was sitting on the wall next to the guy).

Winner: BlackCabSessions

Dr. Dog - Fate

Recently, I've been recommended the band Dr. Dog on multiple occasions. Even though they seem to be receiving very little attention by prominent music sites, I decided to do a little digging and find out more about the band. And I was pleasantly surprised. I think its too often when bands try to imitate the greats in music history. Dr. Dog stays true to the roots of music and presents it with a modern appeal and avoids simply rehashing what was already achieved by classic songwriters like Lennon or McCartney.

Peter, Bjorn and John's latest album, Living Thing, hasn't leaked yet, but the band has released some singles off of it. "Shut the fuck up boy" was the first track I heard and I was boosted not only for the band's direction away from their mostly-instrumental and chill Seaside Rock but its video was sick.
